From Minimes in the south to Chef de Baie in the north, the three beaches of La Rochelle are a delight for relaxation and swimming lovers in the heart of a protected environment. And since the sun should be here this August, enjoy it if you stay with us.
On the Minimes side, we raised the Blue Flag again this summer. Also attributed to the Chef de Baie beach, this label takes into account the quality of bathing water, but also the respect of certain environmental criteria or the right information to the public. Nearby, the Parc des Pères, also located in the protected area, offers its gentle coastal path at the footsteps of walkers and its cliffs in the sight of nature’s curious.
Walk between “Concurrence” and “Chef-de-Baie”
Located in the heart of the city and a short distance from the access channel to the Old Port, La Concurrence Beach is subject to active monitoring regarding water quality. Nestled in the hollow of the bay and close to Charruyer Park, it is a popular spot for lovers of «sunbathing» and family games. Here, as on the other beaches managed by the city, the rescue station is active from the end of June to the end of August.100% natural, the beach of Chef de Baie has nothing to envy to its La Rochelle «cousins». Integrated within the perimeter of a Sensitive Natural Area, its sandy tongue, the adjacent green valley and the surrounding 30 hectares can even be the goal of a delicious walk between land and sea from the beach of La Concurrence, on foot or by bike. The only beach in La Rochelle where you can swim whatever the level of the tide, this one has of course a great attraction with the Rochelais. And those who have already tested it once.
